The Spirit of Sigma Chi

The Spirit of Sigma Chi, as conceived by the Founders more than 155 years ago, yet visible and alive today, is based on the knowledge that:

Friendship among members, sharing a common belief in an ideal, and possessing different temperaments, talents, and convictions, is superior to friendship among members having the same temperaments, talents, and convictions; and that genuine friendship can be maintained without surrendering the principle of individuality or sacrificing one’s personal judgment.

The Gamma Lambda Foundation Inc. (GLFI or “House Corp”)

The Gamma Lambda Foundation Inc. is a non-profit corporation consisting of Alumni volunteers who give freely of their time without compensation. They are dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing at the Chapter House, located at 3581 University Avenue, for their Active brothers at McGill University.

Significant Dates & Upcoming Events:

The following significant events are scheduled for Actives and Alumni alike:

1. Through the rites of our initiation ceremonies we will be welcoming new brothers annually;
2. Alumni from across Canada and the USA visit the Chapter House in the spring term to do some light repairs (the Spring Spruce-Up);
3. An Annual Alumni/Active Wine and Cheese will be held each October at the Chapter House, to coincide with McGill Homecoming;
4. Most significantly, we will celebrate 100 years of Gamma Lambda at McGill University in 2027.
